Carlos Piñerúa is the World Bank Country Manager for Poland and the Baltic States. He is an economist by training, with professional expertise in banking and financial sector issues and competitiveness. He joined the World Bank in 2008; for the last two and a half years he was the Country Manager in Zagreb, Croatia. Prior to his career at the World Bank, he worked for many years at the International Monetary Fund in the Middle East and Central Asia Department. He has years of managerial experience and vast country experience that includes Central and South America, Central Asia, the Middle East, and East Asia. He has been a guest expert speaker on issues of financial sector restructuring in many academic and professional fora. He comes from Venezuela.
